You'll make sure every visit is covered before it happens — verifying eligibility and benefits, securing prior authorizations, and documenting patient responsibility so claims go out clean and denials stay low.

Keyresponsibilities.

Verify eligibility and benefits via payer portals and phone
Obtain and track prior authorizations and referrals
Document deductibles, copays, coinsurance and visit limits
Communicate patient financial responsibility to front desk
Update insurance information in the EMR
Work with billing to prevent and resolve eligibility denials

Requiredskills.

Eligibility and benefits verification (commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, workers' comp)
Prior authorization processes
Payer portal navigation (Availity, payer websites)
Working knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 codes
Attention to detail and accurate documentation
HIPAA compliance

Preferredqualifications.

1–2 years of insurance verification in a medical setting
High school diploma required; medical office certification a plus
